Suicide and Self-Harm Prevention Cards to Wordlessly Ask for Help
I made these "You Are Not A Burden" cards to ensure that the pain and difficulty of voicing painful and difficult ideas cannot stand in the way of asking for life-saving help.
These cards are designed to store until your gloomiest day or to give to those you love to store until their gloomiest day. They are to ask for help without saying a word aloud.
I made these after my own personal experience with an inability to voice why I needed help. On September 21st, 2021, I wrote nine words on a post-it note and handed that note to my husband. Those nine words were "I think I might be a danger to myself."
I was struggling and in my struggle suicidal ideation was strengthening and worsening. I desperately needed help but audibly voicing exactly why felt impossible. I hope these cards can ensure that voicing such a request isn't necessary to get the help you need.
